Activity

Make your slow Mac fast again.

See which apps are hogging your Mac right now, and quit the one slowing you down with one click.

  • Know what is safe to quit and what to leave alone.
  • Get a heads-up the moment an app starts eating your CPU.
  • See where your day went: how long you spent in each app.
Network

Know if it is your Wi‑Fi or your internet.

A speed test runs on its own once a day, so you always know what you are getting. Macaw also tells you when your Wi‑Fi channel is crowded and how far you are from the router.

  • See every device on your network, by name.
  • Find out which apps used the most data today.
  • Only looks at your home network. Never a VPN, never the office.
Storage

Free up space without losing anything.

Find the stuff you forgot about: old installers, screen recordings, duplicate files, caches. Clear it in one click. Everything goes to the Trash, so nothing is gone until you say so.

  • Tap a category and it selects everything it found. Trash it all at once.
  • Duplicates: keep one, trash the rest. Macaw checks they really are identical first.
  • Scans once a day, then opens instantly.
Apps

Delete apps completely.

Dragging an app to the Trash leaves its files behind. Macaw removes the app and everything it left on your Mac.

  • See which apps you have not opened in months.
  • Spot the biggest apps on your disk.
  • Apple's own apps are locked, so you cannot break anything.
Battery & health

Know how much battery you really have.

Not just a percentage. See how many movies, songs or meetings are left in your battery, how healthy it is, and whether your charger is doing its job.

  • Time to full, time left, and what your charger is giving you.
  • Fan speed in plain words: low, medium, high.
  • A week of history, so you know what normal looks like.
Ask Macaw

Just ask.

"Why is my Mac slow?" "What can I delete?" "Is my Wi‑Fi okay?" Macaw answers in plain English and tells you which button fixes it.

  • Works offline with Apple Intelligence. Free.
  • Want smarter answers? Add your own Claude key.
  • It never changes anything on its own. It points, you click.

Keep an eye on things.

Pin Macaw to your desktop and it stays there, small and out of the way, always up to date.

Privacy

A system tool you can actually trust.

You spend most of your day on this Mac. Here is exactly what Macaw does and does not do.

Nothing leaves your Mac

The app has no account, no sign-in and no tracking, and never sends your data anywhere. It only talks to Apple's speed test and, if you add a key, Claude. This website asks for your email once, to hand you the download.

Trash, never delete

Every cleanup goes to the Trash. You empty it when you are ready. Your photo and music libraries are never touched.

Permissions you understand

Macaw asks once and tells you why. Location is only used to show your Wi‑Fi's name, nothing else.

Safe on your network

Macaw only looks around on your home Wi‑Fi. Never on a VPN, never at work. It says hello to your devices and nothing more.

The assistant cannot touch anything

Ask Macaw can read and answer. It cannot quit, delete or change a thing. It tells you which button, you press it.

Everything can be undone

Turn a startup item back on. Pull a file out of the Trash. Nothing Macaw does is permanent.

Common questions

Which Macs does it work on?

Any Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 14 or later. Ask Macaw's built-in answers need macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence turned on; everything else works without it. Mac only, no Windows version.

Is it really free?

For the first 250 people, yes, for good. They are Macaw’s founding members and never pay, whatever comes later. Adding a Claude key for smarter answers is optional and billed by Anthropic, not Macaw.

Why do you ask for my email?

To count the 250 founding spots and to tell you when Macaw gets better. Nothing else, and you can unsubscribe anytime. The app itself never asks for it.

Why does it ask for Full Disk Access?

So it can measure your whole disk in one go instead of macOS asking you folder by folder. You can say no and scan anyway; you will just see more prompts.

What happens on first launch?

Macaw is signed but not yet notarized by Apple, so the first time you open it macOS may say it could not verify the app. Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll to the bottom and click Open Anyway, then open Macaw again. That happens once. After that it opens like any other app.

Will Macaw slow my Mac down?

No. It checks in every couple of seconds and uses less memory than a browser tab. The storage scan runs once a day, only while the tab is open.
